Experience and skills we’re looking for

-          Can create insanely good conceptual mock ups based on own research and communication with company directors (preferably using professional tool such as Balsamiq)

-          Strong skills in Photoshop

-          Able to write succinct, but detailed documentation of how the design would function

-          Has created a few websites before (using Joomla, WordPress, other) and knows the ins and outs of development even if you may not code from scratch

-          Understands the basics of databases, searching and is good at categorising/organising things

-          Understands social media and other tools that artists use (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube, Soundcloud, Skype)

-          Has read Steve Krug’s “Don’t Make me Think”…or plans to very soon!!

What does a “day in the life” of the job look like?

You will be in charge of the design and layout of an amazing new online arts resource.  We’ve already done lots of research and provided some initial mock ups as guides for you to start with.  However, we’re also looking for someone who can be really innovative and come up with new ideas we would never have thought of too!

1.       Begin a mock up design

2.       Consider the list of “design must have’s” that have been documented

3.       Refer to quantitative and qualitative research on the users (performing and creative artists) which we have been conducted

4.       Refer to web based research and competitor websites for best practice

5.       Spice it up with any of your own innovative ideas!

6.       Create the mock up using all of the above information to help guide you

7.       Submit design and reference sites/information for discussion and approval

8.       Rework design based on feedback

9.       Once signed off, below each mock up provide all specifications for development including: description of all functionality.

This is a BIG role, and one that could lead to some pretty awesome opportunities in the future – whether in our company or elsewhere.  So we want to make sure we’ve got the right team to take on the world!  In your application we’ll need to see visual examples of mock ups and websites you’ve worked on.  Please also address all the specific skills requirements in your application.
